7 Ways to Spend Valentine’s Day as a Single Lady

Growing up, I always loved Valentine’s Day – the colors, the flowers, the candy – but as I got older I started to like it a little less each year because I never had someone to spend it with. But over time, I started to accept the fact that it’s OK to be the single one and with that I came to peace with Valentine’s Day and now I love it all over again. I don’t need someone in my life to assure me I’m loved one day out of the year, and you don’t either.

Sweetheart's Photo 3

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be spending my Valentine’s Day spoiling myself (i.e. pizza, chocolate, and wine). But, if that’s now your style, here are ten ways to spend your Valentine’s Day as a single lady.

Treat Yo Self

Whether it be a massage, the pair of shoes you’ve been lusting over, or a latte, treat yourself to something that you typically wouldn’t do for yourself on any other regular day. I’m going to let my mom treat me, because that’s what moms are for, am I right or amiright?

Order Dessert

Every time I go out to eat, I always eat so much that I never have room for dessert. And you know what? DESSERT IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. Seriously, how do these people make such amazing desserts and the best thing I can do is bake cookies from pre-made dough? Go out to eat and just order dessert for yourself, you’ll be so happy you did.

Lay in Bed All Day

Accompanied by pizza and wine, of course. Have yourself a lazy day consisting of your favorite food, favorite alcoholic beverage, and every corny movie you could think of. So maybe on other days this might be frowned upon, but it’s Valentine’s Day and you’re a single lady and you can do whatever the heck you wanna do (I tried so hard not to swear there, how’d I do?).

Go for a Hike at Sunrise

Or any other time, really, but there’s nothing more beautiful than watching the sunrise and why not get some exercise while you’re at it? I would totally consider doing this one myself, but it’s supposed to be 3 degrees on Valentine’s Day so there is a very small chance that I will even step foot out of my apartment. I do have a request though – if you do take a hike to watch the sunrise, send me pictures, please (snapchat: SSBlog or e-mail me!).

Attend/Host Brunch

Put on every single piece of Valentine’s Day themed clothing you own and either attend or host brunch with your closest (single) gal pals. Eat all your favorite foods, drink Valentine’s Day themed mimosas, and chat the morning away. If you do this, I’d love to see pictures!!!

Bake Valentine’s Day Themed Treats

I love baking so much, it’s a blast, it takes patience, and you get a delicious treat in the end. In addition to my wine drinking and pizza eating, I’m planning on baking some frosted sugar cookies (topped with pink frosting, of course) and might even bake myself a loaf of chocolate chip banana bread (only because it’s the best).

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Okay, so maybe this one goes off my first statement, but you know that money you’ve been putting aside for months so you could give yourself a little shopping trip? Now is the time to take it out and bring it for a spin. Go to your nearest outlets, your favorite boutique, or even your local shopping mall and do a little shopping for yourself – you deserve it.

I went and bought myself Valentine’s Day candy as a present. Valentine’s Day in my opinion is about letting people you love know whether that be your siblings, parents, spouse, children and even yourself.

I’m not a huge candy lover, but around the holidays I just can’t help myself (& it always looks cute in bowls around my apartment!). Love spending Valentine’s Day letting those around you know how much you love them!

Yes, yes, yes! Though I’m not single this year these ideas all sound amazing – especially the treat yo self! There’s nothing that can’t be solved with a fresh manicure and some TLC.

I’m going through a pretty recent breakup so this Valentine’s Day is feeling extra difficult for me as a single lady (I had finally learned to accept Vdays alone HA!) but I’m thinking a nice run and a latte before working my 2nd job will be perfect…then coming home and having a glass of wine before bed. No complaints on that.

I love the idea of treating yourself to something, be it a latte, a manicure, a facial, a massage, or a day in bed doing nothing at all.

Why not treat yourself, especially to something you don’t normally do! It makes you feel on top of the world!

I used to hate Valentine’s Day too, but now I see it as the perfect opportunity to treat myself! I think you might be able to guess which one of your ideas I like the most… 😉

Love these fun ideas for singles. I’m single and going to spend the day with family and friends – the people I love most in the world. After all, Valentine’s is a day of love, it doesn’t have to be just the romantic kind. – Katy
