Bar Harbor, Maine

As I discussed in Monday’s post, I’ve been a bit MIA from the blogging game lately, and I apologize! After my last day of work two weeks ago, I headed up to Bar Harbor, Maine to spend a couple days of much needed R&R with the family! It was my first time in the area and my oh my was it stunning! If you haven’t gotten a chance to head up there, I highly suggest it! We stayed at a B&B, which was a first for me and even though I wasn’t a huge fan, I do have to admit it was very quiet and relaxing.

On our way up we made a stop at the Freeport Outlets, which were fabulous and I made sure to make some back-to-school purchases! Once we got to Bar Harbor, we checked into our B&B, got our things situated and headed down to the harbor for a little adventuring, appetizers and much needed drinks. We ended the night with some chocolate bars and a heated game of Scrabble, which my mother won by a landslide.

Day two was spent bike riding and taking in the amazing views of Acadia National Park. I was very excited to be getting my very own bike before we headed to Maine but after our 3.5 hour bike ride, I was so beyond done. I’m glad I got to do it and spend time with my family, but mom and I weren’t too thrilled during the actual bike ride (think padded shorts that felt like a diaper and swearing like truckers) – can you blame us though? Dad said it was going it was the easiest trails in the park but I beg to differ. This is me throwing in my biking shorts for a long while.

Have you ever been to Bar Harbor?!

Hahaha, my dad considered bringing our bikes up to Bar Harbor this year. I was like "naaaahhhh." Glad to know that was a good decision!

It is STUNNING! I totally recommend it, there's so much to do but still has the "small town" feel to it. The biking on another hand… Glad I did it, but it was a pain in the ass (literally).

    Happy Hump Day!

I'm glad I did it, but it was HARD! At least the views made up for it!

Love Bar Harbor and the views from Acadia. About 15-30 minutes outside of Bar Harbor (in Ellsworth) there are two restaurants to check out. One is a takeout called Jordan's Snack Bar- best ice cream, crabmeat, and fried clams around. The other is China Hill- it's chinese and they have THE BEST rice ever. And chicken toast, which I haven't found anywhere else. This is coming from a local- kind of- I grew up about 1 1/2 hours "Downeast" from Bar Harbor 🙂 –Dorrie @ Rt 1 US 1

It’s so awesome! There are a bunch of conveniences in the town, and things to do. If you have your passport, you can take a ferry over to Nova Scotia!
