Loon Mountain Recap

A few weeks ago, mom and I packed up and headed up to Lincoln, New Hampshire for a few days of R&R (& skiing for me!) and guys, it was a blast. We stayed at The Mountain Club on Loon, which was amazing and on the base of Loon Mountain, making activities and skiing so much more convenient!

Loon Mountain Recap

Lincoln (the town where Loon is located!) has the perfect sized town center, complete with everything you would need during a ski trip from a grocery store and liquor store to a few spas, small stores, and a movie theater! One of the nights we went out to dinner at One Love Brewery and it was delicious! Mum and I split french dip sliders and pickled fries and ended the evening with a s’more molten lava cake – are you drooling yet??? I am.

When I’m going to be spending a couple of days in the mountains, being in an area and on a mountain that has a variety of winter activities available is super important to me. Not everyone skis and snowboards, so you want to be able to accommodate them, and sometimes you just want to try something new! One of my favorite things about Loon is that they offer a long list of winter activities, which I took full advantage of. Not only do they have tubing and ice skating but they do snowshoe tours (beginner and advanced!), winter zip lining, and cross country skiing. Although cross country skiing isn’t really my thing.

During our trip, I decided to ski two days and try my hand at zip lining and snowshoeing the other two. Let me tell you – snowshoeing isn’t as easy as it looks. I was panting, I was sweating, and for a couple minutes there, I didn’t think I was going to make it to the end (it was a 3 mile loop). You’re probably laughing at me and thinking I’m being dramatic but it was hard!!! And I’m super out of shape, so that probably contributes to the issue. I’m so glad I did it though, it was absolutely stunning!!!! I wish I took my camera with me so I could show you the beautiful scenery, but I was nervous I’d break it. I guess you’ll just have to go and see it for yourself…..

On the last day we were in Lincoln, I went zip lining, which was *totally* rad!!! Okay, who am I??? It was a weekend of firsts so I figured I’d give zip lining a go. It was so fun and I totally recommend it! The winter zip lining gave such gorgeous views of the snow covered trees (aka winter wonderland) which was something I’d never seen before!

If skiing and winter activities aren’t your cup of tea, Loon has a great lodge and deck area (complete with a bar) if you are more of the sit back and watch other people ski type of person. The gondola goes right out of the main lodge area, which makes for mid day breaks before heading back up really convenient. And if you are traveling to Loon with your family, don’t worry – the mountain is *so* beyond family friendly!

I didn’t know Loon had a zip line! My boyfriend & I usually ski each winter but were so busy this one we didn’t get to go. I’ll have to add Loon to my list for next year 🙂

That looks like so much fun!!! I’ve never been to Loon, but it definitely looks like something that would make winter more fun. 🙂

It’s a great place to visit and there’s plenty to do even if you don’t ski or snowboard!
