Your Skin Is In

Last summer, I read so many articles and stories about girls my age finding out they had skin cancer and Melanoma, and it honestly scared me. I’m not going to lie to you – I’ve spent countless hours in the sun with little to no sunscreen on. I’ve done the whole tanning bed thing just to look “prettier”, but you know what? Being tan isn’t pretty, being healthy and having healthy skin is pretty. Thanks to those articles, stories, and YouTube videos, I realized I needed to slow my role and take the necessary steps to protect my skin.

The Melanoma Foundation of New England started the www.yourskinisin.org educational, pledge-based program and contest to encourage teens and young adults to promise to love the skin they’re in. MFNE has traveled all over New England and has exposed over half a million students to this program. It’s important to realize that Melanoma is the second most common form of cancer in teens and young adults ages to 15-29, but it’s extremely preventable and 99% curable if caught on time.

Skin Products

SkinCeuticals Serum 10 c/o | SkinCeuticals Physical Eye UV Defense c/o | La Roche-Posay Anthelion 60 c/o

Having the right products can go a long, long way. It’s time to invest in your skin, it’s time to protect your skin even though it is winter. There’s still harmful UV rays out there, people!! Also, don’t forget your lips. The ChapStick moisturizing lip balm is SPF 15 and is my go-to, especially when at the beach to give my lips a little extra protection and moisture! If you’re not ready to give up your tan all together, self-tanner and spray tanning are a healthy alternatives to still achieving a fab tan (I’m a huge fan of Jergens natural glow firming moisturizer!).

Keep Calm and Pledge On

This 2016, take the pledge with me! Let’s take the pledge to protect our skin and to treat it with the love and respect it deserves. Head over to www.yourskinisin.org to take the pledge with me! Get involved, grab some friends, and be part of this fabulous campaign!

How do you protect your skin?

Especially in the winter – the UV rays are still damaging!
