5 Reasons Why Every Twenty-Something Should Start a Blog

I’ve been blogging for a little over a year now and I’m still in disbelief that I lasted this long. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging and everything that comes along with it, but I tend to give up on things easily and I finally stuck something through. Go me! I’ve had such positive experiences with blogging and have experienced some awesome things thanks to blogging, that now I’m here to tell you why YOU need to start a blog. Every twenty-something should start a blog, not just because it’s interesting but because of everything else that comes along with it.

Starting a Blog
Reason Number One:

There is so much that goes into blogging from managing social media accounts, self-advertising, managing your actual blog, writing posts, the list goes on and on. Together, these skills all showcase your best attributes that your future employers will be looking for. When they see that you’ve put yourself out there, you’ve taken initiative, and have worked your butt off to achieve what you have on your own, that’s something you should be proud to show off.

Reason Number Two:

The blogging community is off the chain. Seriously, what’s better than women empowering women, not being competitive, and helping each other out? Answer: nothing. I’ve met so many fab ladies through blogging that I would never have met otherwise so that makes the late nights, the stress headaches, and the writers block worth it.

Reason Number Three:

Your twenties can be a very scary and stressful time and having some sort of creative outlet is ideal to help keep the stress levels down. Some people enjoy hiking or yoga, but blogging offers the ability to be yourself, improves your writing skills, as well as keeps those brain juices flowing.

Reason Number Four:

Through blogging, you’re going to really learn who you are. The good, the bad, and the ugly. You’re going to learn what you like, what you don’t like, how you work, how you stay organized, and how you take control of your stressors. It’s honestly the best feeling to figure out who you, how you work, and everything else in between in these confusing years.

Reason Number Five:

Okay, so this isn’t a huge point I like to touch on when it comes to blogging because I don’t find it as important as the other things – learning, meeting new people, and growing as a person -BUT, I’m going to touch on it because I’m not against it nor do I judge people for focusing on this aspect. Blogging is a great way to make money. Yes, you heard me right. I know a lot of bloggers that have their blogs as a way to earn a little bit of money on the side, and heck, I’ve made money from blogging and there’s nothing wrong with making money doing something you love. If you’re someone who can’t find time in your busy schedule to get a job while you’re away at college, give blogging a go. Sure, you won’t make money right away but eventually, you can!

What have you learned from starting a blog in your 20’s?
