The Best Face Masks

Having a solid skincare routine is very important and is something I’ve been working on as I’m getting older. One of the things I realized about my routine was that I didn’t have any face masks in my rotation and had no idea where to even start. Since face masks seemed so foreign to me, I really have made it my mission to learn about and try new face masks and I have put together a guide (with the help of a few skincare companies!) of all of the best face masks that I’ve tried!

The Best Face Masks

Manuka Doctor ApiClear Purifying Facial Peel ($46) / One word: love. There is no better feeling than peeling your face mask off, amirite? This mask is great for people who have acne prone skin because it targets imperfections and balances out your skin tone with Manuka honey and purified bee venom. After peeling it off, my skin felt soft and smooth and not tense. Manuka Doctor also has other products they recommend you use with the facial peel (cleanser, scrub, toner, etc.) that I have on my eye on for my next skincare shopping trip. I highly recommend and will be purchasing again.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask ($42) / This mask is also great for acne prone skin, which gets an A+ in my book. The ease of application and the feeling of the mask on my face was excellent and left my face feeling rejuvenated. The clarifying colloidal sulfur mask also does double duty – you can apply it for a full face mask (leave on for 10 minutes then rinse off!), and you can also use it as a an overnight spot treatment and an under makeup spot treatment. After I use the mask, I apply the firming peptide milk and ferulic + retinol eye cream (which mom also loves!). I highly recommend and will be purchasing again.

nügg Soothing Face Mask ($3) / If you have troubled or sensitive skin, this face mask is for you. It basically feels like you’re putting coconut oil all over your face, but it’s so soothing and easy to wash off. You can also use it as a over-night mask by applying a thiner layer than you would if you apply it during the day, just wash off in the morning. The single serve cup actually has enough mask in it for two applications worth and is perfect for travel. I highly recommend and will be purchasing again.

boscia Wakame Firming Hydrogel Mask ($8) / I was very excited about try this hydrogel mask, which is considered a sheet mask and is applied in two pieces (chin/mouth area and eyes/nose/forehead area) which allows the mask to fit all face shapes and sizes. Prior to this mask, I’ve never used a gel sheet mask but once I applied it, I was hesitant about whether I liked it or not. Because the face mask is gel, it was slipping and sliding in my fingers and on the counter when I was trying to unpackaged it, which required a little clean up.

Once I applied the two pieces onto my face, I was unsure about whether I liked the feeling or not but still gave it a chance. Usually while my face masks are sitting, I’ll be doing some odds and ends around the house and checking items off my to-do list, and this mask is one of those masks that needs you to actually relax. I was kind of disappointed that it was moving a bit on my face while I was doing said activities and was totally against it but then I took it off my skin and my skin felt absolutely wonderful. I do recommend this product but make sure you are sitting/laying down while it works its magic.

The Best Face Masks

Before I get into each of the Look Beauty face masks, you can get each of these as a single-use or as a boxed set! All of them are available at Target AND Amazon and are super affordable ($10 for 3!). All of the Look beauty face masks that I mention below are good for all skin types, but make sure you use the ones that target issues that you face. I do recommend each of these masks! Some of the information might be repetitive, but it’s only because they are all from the same company. Thanks!

Look Beauty Brightening Sheet Mask / The brightening sheet mask helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tones, which are two things that I personally struggle with. I didn’t see a whole lot of change in my skin tone and dark spots, but I only used the mask once. I ordered a few more of these masks so that I could use them over a couple of weeks for a better chance of change. My skin did feel soft and look a little more radiant after use.

Look Beauty Pore Refining Crème Mask / Love! I have huge pores (#ugh) so when face masks target the minimization of pores, I’m all for it. When I used this mask, I did have quite a few problem areas and once I washed the mask off I could clearly see that the redness of these areas went down and the pores on my nose weren’t as noticeable. You can get at least two masks out of one envelope!

Look Beauty Honey Sheet Mask / This mask is great to use after a weekend or any time spent in the sun. I personally experience dryer skin after being outdoors no matter how much sunscreen or moisturizer I use, so once I come inside I look to use more moisturizing products (i.e. a BB cream vs. a heavy foundation) and this nourishing and hydrating sheet mask helps the process of getting my skin back to normal.

Look Beauty Apricot Sheet Mask / Like the honey sheet mask mentioned above, the apricot sheet mask is also great to use when your skin needs a little extra moisture. This sheet mask actually has Collagen blended into it, which is really good for your skin and is a great ingredient to look for in skincare products.

Look Beauty Green Tea Sheet Mask / I don’t like the taste of green tea, but I love the feeling of it on my skin. Got a little too much sun? Apply one of the green tea sheet masks to help soothe and repair your skin when you have a slight (or really bad) sunburn.

Look Beauty Cucumber Sheet Mask / *just add cucumber slices to your eyes and enjoy* Another great sheet mask to use after exposure to the sun or even when you’re just extra tired and your skin is looking below par. I love the feeling of a good rejuvenating face mask when I just can’t. After I removed the sheet from my face, I felt more awake and ready to hit the day.

Look Beauty Pomegranate Sheet Mask / I love the flavor of anything pomegranate but would never expect that it would do anything good for your skin. But, I guess *almost* every food is good for your skin so what was I expecting? My after thoughts of this mask were that it was the apricot sheet mask, the brightening sheet mask, and the honey sheet mask combined into one. Brightening, moisturizing, and soothing? Count me in.

The Best Face Masks

Que Bella Professional Invigorating Sheet Masque ($3)/ I first tried the que bella face masks when I was in Houston visiting Cristina when we had a “spa night” and absolutely loved them! If you’re wondering which ones we used, ask Cristina because I could not tell you. Anyways, I was on a search at Target to try one of their sheet masques since I used the mud-like one with Cristina (how many times can I say Cristina in this one paragraph???) and once I found them, I picked up the invigorating sheet masque whatever that meant.

The packaging says:

“The Que Bella Invigorating Oxygen Spa Sheet Masque is a perfect indulging skin treatment. Enriched with Oxygen and Hops Actives that help to revitalize and even out your skin tone, whilst extracts of Cucumber, Nettle and Aloe Vera help to soothe, hydrate and nourish skin.”

This mask basically makes you look and feel you got the best sleep of your life and is super easy to apply and remove (it’s a sheet masque, so if it wasn’t, than #ugh). I highly recommend and will be purchasing again!

Miss Spa Detox Sheet Mask ($3) / Out of the two Miss Spa sheet masks that I picked up, this one was definitely my favorite. This is the best no-fuss mud mask that was ever invented, ladies. Great for problematic skin (me, again) and is filled with minerals and botanicals to clear skin, quicker. This mask actually does what it says and is one of my new favorites. I highly recommend and will be purchasing again!

Miss Spa Exfoliate Sheet Mask ($3) / If you have dull skin, this mask is for you. It helps exfoliate your skin and show off your naturally beautiful skin without damaging it. The sheet mask helps clean the dirt from your pores, and is paraben, fragrance, and artificial dye free (PRAISE!). Recommended, but I love the detox sheet mask WAY more!

The Best Face Masks

Each of these Karuna masks are applied in the same way. Step one: intensify. Step two: Treat. I loved each of these sheet masks and like the boscia one, make sure you are relaxing and not super active when you have the mask applied. Each type is $28 and comes with four masks but you can also purchase the Karuna Karma Kit+ Face Mask Set for $28 which also includes the a forth mask. I recommend each of these masks. Thanks!

Karuna Brightening+ Face Mask ($28) / You’re first going to apply the correct+ melting boost dots (includes four dots!) and then apply the brightening+ face mask over the dots. This helps target the appearance of age and sun spots as well as brighten your overall skin tone. I personally like that this is a two-step process because it really helps intensify the results of the mask. This face mask is perfect for people with sun damaged and discolored skin.

Karuna Clarifying+ Face Mask ($28) / Similar to the brightening+ mask, the clarifying+ mask also features intensifying dots (includes four dots!) that you apply in unison with the sheet mask. Out of the three Karuna masks, this one is my favorite. It is perfect for people with acne prone skin (hi, me, again!). The intensifying dots help remove dirt that are blocking your pores and the mask helps clogged skin and controls the excess oil stressed skin produces. I applied the intensifying dots on the areas that were broken out and after removing the dots and the mask, those spots weren’t as red and appeared a little bit more cleared up!

Karuna Age-Defying+ Face Mask ($28) / I personally believe the best way to age gracefully is to take care of your skin early on and start using anti-aging products sooner rather than later. The age defying+ mask includes under eye boosts instead of intensifying dots, which help with those under-eye lines that we all have. Because this mask is aimed at aging and sensitive skin, it was perfect to use on my problematic skin and I didn’t have to worry about any further breakouts. Apparently this mask contains wild yam which promotes younger looking skin. My skin looks great, so does that mean wild yams are the key to success??!

I love those inexpensive single serve pouch face masks. I saw some masks at Ulta recently that were animal faces. Have you seen or tried those? They seemed fun – koala faces, etc. Thanks for sharing!

I saw those too! I haven’t tried them yet but they’re on the list, along with the Sephora ones!

Yay for face masks! I love this guide – aside from the Que Bellas and a few others, I haven’t really tried a whole bunch, but now I see some that could become my new favorites!

I was going to tell people to #FaceMaskFriday with you, but I figured I already said “Cristina” enough times. LOL (did I really just say that in a comment? #ugh)

I’m obsessed with putting on face masks! I’ll definitely take your recommendations and try some more!

I almost bought this nugg one the other day, but wasn’t sure how it would work so I decided not to. I wish I would’ve read this earlier!
