It’s been *way* to long since I’ve posted a new blog post (girls weekend, man) but I am so freakin’ excited to share today’s post with you! I’ve teamed up with Cocktail Courier to bring you a delicious and refreshing cocktail recipe perfect for taking your mind off winter.
What is Cocktail Courier?
In short: the best subscription box service you never knew you needed in your life.
In long: Cocktail Courier is an online marketplace that brings the craft cocktail experience right to your front door. Each cocktail kit features recipes from local, professional bartenders. The idea sprouted over drinks in Manhattan’s East Village and is now headquartered in Chicago. The delivery service features fresh ingredients and step-by-step instructions to shake or stir up cocktails in a matter of minutes.
But in all seriousness, who doesn’t want cocktails delivered straight to their front door? All that’s left for you to do is grab the necessary bar tools and glasses (not included).
How does it work?
If you want to become a subscriber (use code: HELLOHER for $10 off your first box!), you will receive a box on a regular basis – monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly. Subscriptions are $39.99/kit for a standard subscription (4-8 cocktails) or $49.99/kit for a premium subscription (4-12 cocktails).
There’s no commitment (cancel whenever you want!), you get to customize your boxes by selecting your favorite spirit categories, and the delivery is *super* convenient.
If a subscription is not for you, you can shop a la carte for a single order (4-12 cocktails, varies by box!) by browsing the rotating cocktail list and adding said drink to your cart!
When and where do they deliver?
Cocktail Courier delivers nationwide (excluding AL, AR, DE, KY, MS, ND, OK, RI, SD, and UT) via FedEx ground or FedEx 2-day.
If you are located in Chicago, convenient 2-3 hour delivery windows are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. HOLLAAAAAA.
Now that we have the basics covered, let’s talk about the cocktail.
I received a standard subscription box filled with all of the ingredients to make the Agua Desierto, created by Laila Grainawi. The cocktail it’s self is the most gorgeous color (because of the prickly pear syrup!) and the flavors are out of this world. It’s unique, refreshing, and sweet (but not *too* sweet). I don’t typically go for pear-flavored drinks (or anything for that matter), so this cocktail really expanded my pallet and I was pleasantly surprised!
Now the big question – what the heck is pisco?????? I personally have never heard of such a thing until I opened the box, but after careful research, I have finally figured out what the heck it is.
Pisco is a South American spirit distilled from wine, and the bottle specific to this recipe comes from the Limarí Valley in Chile. Pisco Control is the only pisco which is distilled three times in copper alembics, creating a pure and transparent product.
The Recipe: Agua Desierto
Adapted From: Cocktail Courier
By: Laila Grainawi
2 oz Pisco Control
0.75 oz Prickly Pear Syrup
0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3 drops Jamaican #2 Bitters
Garnish: Freshly grated lime zest
- Chill Couple Glass by placing in fridge/freezer or by filling with ice water and setting aside for 5 minutes (optional)
- Measure and add all ingredients (except for garnish) to Cobbler Shaker
- Fill shaker with ice, place top of Cobbler Shaker back on the shaker, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds
- Remove Couple Glass from fridge/freezer or if using ice water, empty the glass
- Strain shaken cocktail into the glass
- Grate or zest your limes directly over your cocktail for a bright citrus note with every sip
Just an FYI – my recipe card plugin wasn’t saving the recipe, but once that’s sorted out I’ll insert the recipe card instead of having the recipe typed out above.
Have you ever tried a cocktail (or any type of alcohol) service like this one? Don’t forget to use the code: HELLOHER for $10 off your first subscription box (does not apply to a la carte options!) until May 31st! You can sign-up here.
