Cross-Body Purse Essentials

The amount of nonsense I keep in my regular every day handbag is unbelievable so when I need to carry a smaller bag, cross-body, or a clutch, I have a difficult time figuring out what is important to have in it, and what isn’t. To fix this little issue that I have been facing, I started carrying a small cross-body or a clutch on a day-to-day basis instead of my Mary Poppins bag and I have finally solved the mystery of what to keep in my small bags.

GUM | I always, always, always keep some type of gum or mints in my bag at all times. There’s nothing more embarrassing than eating something on the go and then realizing your breath is below bar, so some sort of refreshment is necessary. I also like keeping gum on me at all times because it can be an ice breaker when meeting new people in class or on campus, and when your stomach starts roaring in class, it can help control things until you have time to eat!

WALLET & CASH | Depending on the size of my bag I’ll carry my full, regular sized wallet or I’ll opt for something smaller such as a card holder, or I’ll just toss my cash and necessary cards to the bottom of my bag to fend for themselves. When I usually carry a small bag or clutch it’s typically because I’m going to the bar, an event, or a festival and some of these types of places you have to pay to park, need to leave a tip, or don’t accept cards so I always try to have a little bit of cash on me.

SUNNIES | I always have to have a pair of sunglasses on me at all times, I swear my eyes are sensitive to the light. Either way, it’s important to keep them in your bag or in your car, whichever you prefer, for driving and being outside on sunny days. Not only is it easier to see, but the lenses in sunglasses protect your eyes from the UV Rays that come from the sun! Your eyeballs can get sunburnt, too!

KEYS | Why would you even go anywhere without your keys? Whether they be house keys, apartment keys, car keys, whatever keys, you need them on you. When purchasing key chains, I tend to opt for the ones that have a clip on the end so I can easily attach them to the strap of my bag, my belt loop, or any other funny area I decide to clip them on to.

LIP PRODUCTS | Chapstick is my lifeline but somehow I tend to lose mine all the time so I literally have about 50 of these bad Lary’s around – in my car, in my back, in every single purse and jacket I own, the list goes on. I always tend to need Chapstick when I don’t have it on me, so I try so very hard to keep at least one in my reach at all times. I’m also a huge lipstick gal so on the days I wear it, I like to throw the stick in my bag for easy touch-ups after my coffee, eating, and long days!

What do you keep in your small purses and clutches?

They're my favorite!!! I barely wear any of my other ones anymore cause the aviators are so light on my face, sometime I even forget they are there!
