My skincare and makeup routine always tend to stay about the same all year round, with the exception of a few products coming and going. Can you blame me though? When I find something I like to stick by it. My current beauty routine is similar to my summer makeup routine, but I’ve finally said hello to some new products and with Christmas right around the corner, I’m hoping to try out some more in the coming weeks (let me know your suggestions in the comments!).
A good beauty routine starts with a good skincare routine (and a clean face). I’m a huge believer in removing my makeup and washing my face before bed at night, and cleansing my face again in the morning. I’ve been using Neutrogena’s makeup removing wipes for years now, simply because they remove all of my makeup (even waterproof!) and don’t irritate my skin. Once I remove my skin, I wash my face and apply drying cream to any problem areas before I head to bed.
With the change in weather, my face has been a little dry, so I make sure to apply an oil free moisturizer to my forehead and chin. I’ve only recently started using Mario Badescu products and have been incorporating more and more into my skincare routine. The products don’t break the bank and work very well, I highly suggest them! In addition to my everyday skincare products, I will use a face mask a couple days a week. Right now I’m loving this face mask.

Once I wash my face in the morning, I start my makeup routine with my eye makeup. I first fill in my eye brows with the L’Oréal Brow Stylist Designer pencil, which is under $10 and works fabulously! The newest product in my lineup is the Maybelline eyeshadow base and after using it for a few days, I can officially say that I have no idea how I went on without it. I never wear anything crazy for eyeshadow, just some nudes to add a little extra oomf, but it keeps it in place all day long. For the price, it is well worth trying out!
After my eyeshadow base is in place, I apply my eyeshadow, curl my lashes, and put on a few (okay, a lot) coats of mascara. Right now, I’m mixing between the Naked2 palette and the eyeshadows in Pixi’s book of beauty. I do have my eye on a couple of eyeshadow palettes right now, but would love to know which ones you love in the comments below!
I always leave my face makeup for last so that I’m not touching it while I do my eye makeup. This is something I never did until recently and have no idea why I would do my eye makeup last – silly me.
Before applying my foundation, I like to cover up my problem spots with the better skin concealer, which I s-w-e-a-r by. I had been using the bareMinerals concealer for awhile, but wasn’t 100% satisfied so I gave this one a go and let me tell you – IT’S AMAZING. Once I have that situated, I use the bareMinerals bareSkin and find that the consistency and weight of it are perfect for my skin type (combination). If you’re prone to acne and are having a difficult time finding a foundation and concealer that work for you, give these a try!
There’s nothing worse than having a liquid looking makeup, so I make sure it’s well blended and finish it off with Kat Von D’s setting powder. The only downside is that there is no twist to cover the holes so the powder does get thick on top if it isn’t sitting flat.
A few weeks ago, I ran out of the tarte blush I had been using but decided not to re-purchase it because I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not so I opted for the pixi book of beauty. The “book” or palette, has two highlighters, two cheek colors, and four eye shadows. To be honest, I’m not loving it. I noticed that the cheek colors wear off very quickly, which isn’t ideal when I’m working all day long so I’m desperately in the need of long lasting cheek color suggestions!
Once I put a little cheek color on, I’m usually out the door on my way to work. Sometimes I opt for a lip color but when I have to work, I typically don’t wear any sort of lip color due to the lack of opportunity to reapply. I swear, reapplying your lip color is the worst! When I do wear something, I love rose stiletto and sultry.
