Hi friends! Can you believe that this week is that last official week of summer?! I can’t! Although I am itching for fall (and to say goodbye to my shorts), I am soaking up as much summer as possible. But with summer comes allergies and humidity which leave my lips thirsting for moisture and leaving them flakey and not very pretty. Lush Cosmetics has an amazing lip scrub that I truly adore but having a quick and easy homemade lip scrub at your finger tips makes me feel less guilty about how frequent I use it.
The best part of making a homemade lip scrub? I guarantee you that you have at least 95% of these ingredients at home, but if not it will only cost you $5 and a quick trip to Target.
What you’ll need:
– Petroleum Jelly
– 1 Lemon
– 1/2 Cup Sugar
– Mixing Bowl
– Small Jar
In a mixing bowl, you are going to want to combine three heaping spoonfuls of petroleum jelly and 1/2 a cup of sugar and mix them together. If you want your lip scrub to have more coarse, add more sugar to the mixture! Once mixed together, you are going to want to squeeze one lemons worth of lemon juice into the mixture, and mix it right on in. And ta da! You’re done.
I typically use my homemade lip scrub every 2-3 days (when my lips are in particularly bad condition) and apply it when I have a face mask on. If you’re using the scrub just for a little extra oomph, I would recommend using it once a week and leaving it on for about 10 minutes before removing it!
Have you ever made homemade lip scrub before?
