the details: collared shirt, denim, flats, gloves, jacket (old, similar, similar), sunglasses
I am *loving* this fall weather! The mornings are a little colder than I would prefer, but the mild weather during the day and the sun making an appearance makes dealing with the cold mornings worth it. As we put Thanksgiving behind us and start putting up our holiday decor, I’m holding on to the fall weather and some of my favorite fall pieces for a few more weeks before the snow hits Boston. Plus, these pieces can easily be transitioned into winter with a few extra layers!
Whether you go for a classic white button down (my fave!) or a pattern, having at least one collared shirt in your wardrobe is a must. Collared shirts can be worn year round – with shorts, layered under sweaters for cold winter days, and worn with slacks for work.
A Well-Fitting Pair of Denim
I am a *huge* fan of denim – seriously, I wear jeans pretty much every day and prefer them to dresses and shorts. Unpopular opinion, I know. But a pair of denim that fit you perfectly and you feel comfortable in will change the denim game for you. I am a huge believer in J.Crew’s denim and they even fit my petite legs!
You can never go wrong with black flats. These are my go-to black flats and every time they can’t be brought back from the dead, I purchase another pair, they’re that good. The key is to find a style that looks good with anything – dresses, denim, skirts, slacks. D’Orsay flats are one of my favorite styles, they’re classic and chic!
A Fabulous Black Coat
I bought this coat from the LOFT last year and sadly they didn’t bring it back this year (fingers crossed they bring it back before Christmas!) but there are a bunch of great styles similar to this one out there! My favorite things about this coat: 1) it’s warm 2) it looks cute with jeans or dressed up for the holidays 3) it doesn’t have a hood (anyone else hate hoods??) 4) the collar on it is high enough that I can nuzzle my face in it if it gets chilly. Whether you decide to invest in a black coat or go for a budget-friendly version, you’ll have it for years and seriously get so much use out of it!
Everyone needs one pair of sunglasses that can be worn with anything for anything. Oversized sunnies are great and all, but they’re not always the best decision when you are going into the office or at a (outdoor) special event. Opt for a classic shape for every day and keep your oversized sunnies for fun! I’ve had these aviators for a few pairs now and I am *always* wearing them (don’t worry I just ordered a new pair!) and love that they are a simple, classic frame.
