Ahhh, lipstick, one of my absolute favorite beauty products! I firmly believe that swiping on even the simplest of shades can elevate any outfit. I will be the first one to admit that I do not wear lipstick every single day, nor do I buy new lip colors for myself on a regular basis, but I am a sucker for a smooth application and moisturizing formula so that when I do wear lipstick, I don’t regret it the second after applying it. Out of all of the shades I own (I own a lot for someone who doesn’t wear lipstick all the time….. I promise!), these 8 beauties are the ones I always reach for time and time again.
Spending more than $10 on a tube of lipstick breaks my heart a little bit, but these five shades are well worth the money.
The YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks are moisturizing, hydrating, and creamy.
YSL ‘Rose Stiletto’ ($37) – Rose Stiletto will always be my neutral, go-to, wear anything lipstick. If you don’t own a good neutral, this shade is for you.
YSL ‘Fuchsia’ ($37) – The bright fuchsia color is gorgeous for spring, summer, or fall. It’s the perfect combination of pink with a tint of purple that really makes it pop.
Urban Decay ‘Alpha’ ($17) – I had been itching to try the Urba Decay Vice lipsticks for awhile now, but there was so many shade options that I would just get overwhelmed and swore I’d do it another day. I finally got around to picking up a shade (I opted for a matte) and I’m *absolutely* obsessed with it. It applies extremely smoothly and wears well throughout the day!
The new Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet’s are the perfect combination between a lipstick and a lip gloss – think, long-lasting, and moisturizing. I’m not typically a gloss type of gal, but these ones hit the nail on the head.
Burberry ‘Fawn Rose’ ($34) – This shade is just a smidgen darker than my go-to YSL shade (& longer lasting!), making it perfect for a night out with the girls! It’s slight rust-tint to it makes it perfect for fall.
Burberry ‘Bright Plum’ ($34) – Every girl needs this rich, dark plum color lippie in their life ASAP. It’s fierce, it’s bold, and I’m obsessed.

On occasion, I can be very picky about the drug store lipsticks I pick up, but Revlon has never failed to amaze me with their prices, quality, and shade selection.
‘Standout’ ($7) – I’ve been searching for the perfect shade of red for YEARS and finally decided to give this shade a try and I’m so glad I did! Although not a true fire engine red (there’s a darker hint to it), it’s as close to the real thing as I’ve been able to get, plus you can’t beat the price!
‘Elusive’ ($7) – If we’re being honest here, this is the first Revlon ColorBurst shade I ever picked up. YUP. I was looking for a good everyday shade to mix into my beauty routine instead of using my YSL lippie all the time. It goes on a little bit lighter than it looks, giving it a girl next door vibe (a good one, of course!). It really pops in the summer time when you have glowing skin, too!
