Q3 Check-In

Q3 Check In

It is officially the second half of the year, which means prepping your blog for end of the summer sales and the holidays. As the beginning of quarter three marks the halfway point of the year, this is the perfect time to make any necessary technical updates to your site to improve user experience, reevaluate your goals, and   plan for the upcoming months. If you haven’t started focusing on your blog in a quarterly aspect, now is the time!

As time goes on, you are going to grow and so isn’t your brand. The goals you set six months ago might not be applicable anymore or you might have new goals that you want to add into the mix. At the beginning of each quarter, sit down and take a look at the goals you have set in the past. Which ones have you met? Which ones are you still working on? Are there any new goals you want to accomplish in the next three months?

When you’re setting your goals, try breaking them up into two categories: short term and long term. Having both types of goals, you avoid discouragement of not hitting those big ticket goals because you have short term ones that are attainable in a shorter period of time that you’ll be accomplishing in the meantime! Balance, friends!

Content planning is one of my favorite things to do, it’s one of the more creative aspects of blogging (other than the writing & photoshoots!) and it constantly pushes me to think outside of the box. For the longest time, I just blogged when I had an idea, didn’t plan ahead, and barely kept a calendar. Once I started using a content calendar and set aside time to brainstorm new ideas, blogging has become more exciting and less stressful.

Over the next couple of months there are some big sales coming up (HELLLLOOO NORDSTROM SALE!) and holidays to take advantage of from a social content monetization aspect. It is *so* important to plan ahead for them simply because it keeps things more organized (& less stressful) this allowing you to create your best content and have a profitable blog.

Ah, media kits. Everyone puts them off as much as they can but let’s face it: they’re essential for landing collaborations. Once you’ve created yours, make sure you update it each quarter so that any information you include in it (social media stats, website stats, overall information) is correct and reflects all of the hard work you put into your amazing blog!

Set a calendar alert or write in your actual planner a reminder to make any updates and changes to your media kit each month so when you have the opportunity to collaborate with that kick ass brand you’ve been dying to work with, you can send them over your media kit right away (because it’ll be updated & looking amazing!).

Have you been putting off any technical work on your site for months? Now is the time to bite the bullet and spend the afternoon updating plugins, checking for 404 errors (& redirecting them!), checking for quality back links, and updating WordPress. Before you do any of these, make sure to make a backup of your files and database via your hosting accounts cPanel and your FTP just in case!

As you are going through and giving your site any much-needed updates, take a look at your stoppable widgets, pages & posts. Are there items listed that are sold out? Start by seeing if you can find the item in stock elsewhere and if not, be sure to switch that item out for something very similar. There’s nothing worse than going to a post and having all of the items sold out or available in limited sizes. Keeping your pages and widgets updated will help your readers find the products they want and will in turn make YOU more money. It’s a win-win if you ask me!

How are your prepping your blog for the second half of the year?!
