Ten Things to Try in 2016

I love when the year comes and goes, but only because it means more goal setting, achievements and memories to be made. I typically have an idea of what I want to achieve in the new year, but sometimes I enjoy a little push from a friend!

Ten Things to Try in 2016

2016 is your year! Chances are you’ve made some resolutions, but really, you’re just up for making 2016 the best year it can be. I think trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone can really encourage the personal growth you might be looking for. And if not, some of these are just a heck of a lot of fun, so why not? Here are ten things to try this 2016!

A new workout
Ok, so how effective is aqua zumba and do I have to wear a one-piece? You might have been a little weary in the past to actually go in to a new exercise class rather than just watch from the window, but let’s make 2016 all about trying new things. Besides, that Swell water bottle you got for Christmas isn’t just for looking cute.

Keep a plant alive
As much as you want a puppy, you probably should start small. And small is the gardening section of your local grocer. (Cactuses don’t count)

A mason jar craft
Because what can’t you make with a mason jar? I already have two soap dispensers and a place to keep my cotton swabs, but Pinterest seems to have a lot of great options to try.

A new restaurant
You know, that one you drive by and say, “I need to try that!” every single week. Well, grab your girlfriends or your man and try it. Could you happily die tomorrow knowing you didn’t go to the new noodle play? I know you couldn’t.

An app you’ve been hearing about
Literally everyone’s talking about it, how have you not downloaded it yet?!

A book that’s been raved about
You see everyone on the bus reading it, the lady at Starbuck’s counter opens it during the lull hours of her shift, and it’s been popping up on your Facebook feed. Spend the fifteen dollars just to know what all the fuss is about.

A new hairstyle or part
I’m gonna figure out how to do a dutch crown braid if it’s the last thing I do!!!

The makeup trend you’ve been a little afraid of
Flitter eyebrows? White liner? The extra-nude lip? Pick your poison.

Getting up earlier/going to bed earlier
This probably was your New Year’s resolution anyway. It’s time to wake up and do some sun salutations only after you went to bed without watching Netflix until the wee hours of the morning. You know it’s better for you, so why not just set that alarm and get to it?

Something that scares you
Because it’s 2016 and you’re a strong person who can do anything. You can take that solo backpacking trip to Europe. You can delete your ex’s phone number. You can sign up for how yoga and pilates. You can sign on to a big project at work. 2016 is the year of you and you can do whatever you put your mind to!

Wonderful points! I'll try doing the plant thing, the book thing and something that I'm scared to do! Thanks for this post! 🙂

I laughed out loud at the plant one. I've tried so many times. Now I stick to fake plants……but real ones are so much better! Maybe I'll give it one. last. shot. this year

LOL. You're right about the plant! Every time I see a puppy or a kitten, I get all wishy-washy and state my extreme longing for a pet. At the same time, anytime I have a plant, it inevitably dies. Great post! 🙂
