The Secret to Soft and Smooth Skin

Oatmeal. Oatmeal is the secret to soft and smooth skin. Between the snow and wind of the raw winter months, my skin is less than perfect. I have bumps on the back of my arms, dry ankles, and eczema ridden elbows and calfs. Basically, winter isn’t my favorite and I’m always looking for a remedy to my skin issues.

With that being said, from time to time I will purchase a new beauty product that was recommended to me through friends, but a majority of the time I just got back to the products I know best – drug store products. I mean, c’mon, you can’t beat the price and the accessibility to them. I feel as though I’ve tried all of the brands available at the closest drug store, but I always find myself going back to St. Ives. Can you blame me though? Their apricot face scrub works miracles and their coconut and orchid body lotion smells like a dream.

St. Ives

When I had the opportunity to work with St. Ives and try out some of their new oatmeal products, I basically almost peed my pants. St. Ives is my go-to and their new oatmeal & shea butter body lotion and oatmeal & shea butter body scrub. The great part about these two products is that not only does the oatmeal make them smell great, but oatmeal contains nutrients that are known to give your body nutrients (that must be why everyone smears it all over their faces).

Body Lotion + Body Scrub

These two products are fabulous and have quickly worked their way into my every day routine. I use the body scrub 3-4 times a week in the shower, which is very gentle but the scrubbing power has done a great job exfoliating the backs of my arms (I also use on my stomach and legs!) to reveal soft skin (no more bumps!). I apply the body lotion post-shower to smooth my sooth my skin and really show off it’s true radiance! For the first time this winter (or is it spring? *wink*), my skin is finally feeling softer and looking much more radiant and attractive (hehe) after the long, harsh winter.

And, if you’re in college (like me) and are on a college student, these products (along with the rest of the St. Ives products) are perfect for you. They smell great, they work phenomenally, and are super affordable (the lotion & scrub are both under $5!).

Body Lotion + Body Scrub + OatMeal

With the release of their oatmeal products, St. Ives has teamed up with OatMeals to bring the goodness of oatmeal and St. Ives to life. OatMeals founder, Samantha, has created the St. Ives Radiance Boost Bowl (which is delicious) to sell at the New York OatMeals location from now until April 8th and all consumers will be given a free sample of St. Ives with the purchase of the radiance boost bowl (while supplies last)!

Have you tried the oatmeal and shea butter body lotion or body scrub yet? What are your favorite St. Ives products?

I’ve tried Aveeno and a couple other brands, but I always go back to St. Ives! It’s so reliable and they have great products. I’ve been wanting to try to use coconut oil in my hair, but I’m so nervous!

My mom used to make me do oatmeal baths when I was younger, and looking back it on I realize that oatmeal is so effective! I’m a beauty product junkie, so now I know what to pick up on my next drug store trip!

    • March 2, 2016 / 11:34 AM

I have never ever taken an oatmeal bath, and I’m not sure how I feel about the idea, but oatmeal is so good for your skin so hey! Whatever works, right!

I’ve been obsessed with the St Ives apricot scrub for a while, and your post convinced me that I need to get obsessed with their lotions, too! When I was little I used to take oatmeal baths to help with my eczema, so this should really help me (no bath necessary!) Great post, girlfriend!

Aw, thanks Cristina! I’m a huge lover of the St. Ives apricot scrub, too. The oatmeal in the lotion helps me eczema so so much!
